From a young age Brandon Shin knew he would become a stylist. After moving to New York City at age 19 he began to work with photographers and quickly learned to train his eyes to see the right style and cut for each client. Brandon was then brought on to Frederic Fekkai's team and became his right hand man working as one of the original assistant to Fekkai himself. After working with Fekkai for several years Brandon became a top senior stylist at the 5th Avenue Frederic Fekkai Salon. Creating a name for himself he became a stylist, working with top designers such as Valentino, Chanel, Oscar de la Renta, DVF, Alice and Olivia, Rag and Bone, Proenza, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Missoni. Brandon also worked on editorials with Vogue magazine and was the lead on the Oprah Show. Aside from working with famous designers, Brandon also became a mentor to aspiring stylists throughout the United States. He traveled in place of Frederic to teach junior stylists about what it means to become a top stylist. His expertise in client relations and styling hair has brought him to the top of Frederic Fekkai's empire. Brandon's recognition from the Fekkai organization made him a super star within and outside of the company. With years of experience in the fashion world, Brandon has been approached by many celebrity clientele to become their styling eye. He has worked with Heidi Klum, Miranda Kerr, Anne Hathaway, Molly Sims, Julie Chang, Lang Lang, Paris Hilton, Nicky Hilton, Rachel Ray, and Britney Spears.
When Stefanie was looking to take her career in hair in a new direction, she didn’t think twice when she decided to join one of her greatest mentors (Brandon Shin) and his talented team at Brush. Growing up in the U.S. then having gone to boarding school in Switzerland, Stefanie always had a passion for everything in Hair and Beauty. After graduating from the Carsten Institute of Cosmetology NYC in 2006 she immediately joined Frederic Fekkai being immersed in all that was Beauty and Fashion working alongside some of the best stylists NYC had to offer including Frederic himself. Quickly mastering her craft, Stefanie was invited to participate in various Marketing events, Trade Shows, Fekkai campaign shoots, editorial work, Television and in turn she was also able to mentor and became a cutting and styling educator for the brand. NY Fashion Week was some of her most memorable learning experiences supporting world renowned hair icons whom she admires such a Michel Aleman, Didier Malige, Paul Hanlon, Adir Abregel and Renato Campora for various fashion shows. Soon aftershocks was the lead for Lisa Perry NYFW presentation SS 2013, Angel Sanchez Bridal 2016 Pamella Roland NYFW spring 2017, Oscar de La Renta pre-fall 2017. Stefanie also tends to the tresses of some of NYCs socialites, celebrities and world dignitaries. She soon had the opportunity to meet and style Leah Remini in New York who then hired her as her official personal NYC stylist and worked with her for her television shows Kevin Can Wait (CBS) Scientology the Aftermath (A&E) and feature film Second Act (STX Entertainment). In her chair consultation is key. Working with all hair textures rather than going with the trends Stefanie will educate the client on what will work best for them and create a style that is beautiful, fun and effortless. She will always make you feel welcomed and appreciated!
Starting her career in Philadelphia, Hana moved to NYC to challenge herself and get inspired by different hair styling techniques, specifically to work at Frederic Fekkai. Hana trained under top stylists and assisted Frederic himself. She went on to establish herself as a stylist shortly after and she went on to be there for 13 years. Hana has worked on many photo shoots including Uniqlo and Target. She has also worked in many fashion shows which include Marchesa, Proenza Schouler, Rag&Bone, Alice&Olivia, Rachel Roy, Dennis Basso, Prabal Gurung, Oscar de la Renta and Rachel Zoe. Aside from photo shoots and fashion shows, Hana has also done television work for Good Morning America, Martha Stewart and QVC. With such an an array of experience Hana accommodates every clients need, whether it is a haircut or an intricate up-do Hana is your girl!
Matthew has been a team member of Brush since its opening. Training exclusively with Brandon, Matthew has acquired extensive skills to deliver tailored styles for all types of hair textures. Always having a high level of standard, Matthew creates meticulous and chic looks that can be created effortlessly everyday. Recently, he has worked with Designer brand Armani to create hair styles for their 2013 F/W collection.
Growing up splitting her time between Europe and the US , Machal has gained an excellent perception of who people are and what they want. After leaving the Aveda institute 8 years ago, Machal has been building an impressive resume and following. Having started her career at Frederic Fekkai 5th ave flagship salon and then transferred to their soho location to train under their national creative director. Machal has participated in NYFW shows such as Proenza, Rag & Bone, Marchesa and Giorgio Armani. Machal has perfected an edgy structured approach to hair while keeping things natural and effortless.
Sony first realized her passion for fashion when she started working at BCBG MaxAzria as a visual merchandiser. She left the mannequins for the real deal! What better way to give someone guidance for style and confidence than the complete makeover. Sony graduated from Aveda Institute and started her apprenticeship at Mark Garrison Salon to become a hair stylist. She went on to work at the Peninsula hotel as a stylist and makeup artist. She worked with many guests and models for major events including Dolce&Gabbana, the Tony Awards and Gala photo shoots. Sony loves to see the look on a clients face as she enhances their natural beauty with makeup AND hair!
Hailing from the coast of New Hampshire, Chloë came to the city six years ago to pursue her career in the hair industry. She started her journey at Arrojo where she trained directly under Nick Arrojo himself as well as a staff of master stylists. She immediately fell in love with creating tailored looks that bring out each individuals beauty. From there she moved onto the esteemed Ted Gibson Salon where she worked directly under the man himself. She's assisted on shoots for Gotham magazine, Blackbook, O magazine, Glamour, and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. She has also tousled the locks of Debra Messing, Ashley Greene, Bar Refaeli, and Chanel Iman. She has worked on NYFW for Lila Rose, Carmen Marc Valvo, Rachel Roy, and 2-xist. Whether its for a night out on the town with the girls or a red carpet event Chloë will make you feel like the spot light is directly on you.
Sheila has been in the beauty industry for almost 10 years developing a wide range of cutting techniques. Her passion has allowed her to create various styles from a daring new look to a more easygoing flair. Having a strong, technical ability, Sheila has gained a loyal clientele of weekly blowouts and style for her clients. Throughout her career, she has worked with many of New York’s top stylists and most recently worked the Jason Wu fashion show for Fall 2014. Sheila has a good eye for style and beauty, as well as talent, creativity and professionalism which, when combined, leave our clients feeling beautiful and refreshed!
Ava was confident at an early age that hair was her passion. She started her training at Jacques Dessange and soon became a hair stylist in South Korea. Ava felt that learning a new technique and expanding her education was the best way to improve on her own style so she decided to move to New York City in 2013. Since then, she has trained extensively with our top stylist Brandon Shin and soon her exceptional talent promoted her as a stylist in our brush team. Ava is someone who gives 100% of herself everyday to her clients. After 9 years of her career as a hair stylist, Ava still feels new and excited. She truly enjoys meeting new people and loves to make them feel confident when they are walking out the door at Brush.
